BF4 can not launch with EA app because of UAC loop.

Hello all,

Since I installed the new 2022 ea app that rolled out this month in december to replace Origin for Windows, my BF4 game will not start anymore after the UAC autorisation. The UAC will come back in a loop to ask for the autorisation and if I disable the UAC the EA app will restart in a loop and the game will not launch. With Origin BF4 would launch after the first UAC autorisation. 

I tried to do a new install of the EA app as admin, and I gave permanent admin acces to the app. But nothing works.

Thanks in advance if someone has an idea for the solution.

    Hello all,

    Thank you all for the replies.

    Unfortunately the only solution for me was a clean windows 10 install and to download the EA app and than the worst that I needed to download the whole game (BF4) again (with my 4G LTE connexion).

    When I did paste the Xpack 0 and the content of the BF4 data folder (that I had previously stored on a hard drive) into the new C:\Program Files\EA Games\battlefield 4 folder. The installation process of the EA app would not detect the copy/paste files as data that was already downloaded. So when I relaunched the download process it would just continue to download the whole game.

    But everything works fine for me again, no UAC notifications anymore and no loops.

    Hi @Crazydutchman24 ,

    These steps appear to have helped some with that problem:

    • Having launched the game from Steam and have the EA app downloaded
    • Make a fresh driver install
    • Delete the EA app
    • Goto: Users\**name**\Documents\Battlefield 4\settings
    • Delete everything in there and delete every instance and file of BF4 on your PC
    • Make a clean reboot
    • Then make a fresh install of Battlefield4 on Steam
    • Now all should start up correctly again.

    Thanks for your post, but are there any instructions for those of us without a Steam account?  I added the EA app yesterday and no longer can I launch BF4.  Weird thing, BF3 works.

    I'm having the same or a similar problem.   After being forced to install the EA App, when I try to run BF4, I get a Windows box asking for permission to make a change to my computer (specifically, the BF4.exe file).  I click Yes, the box disappears and I'm taken back to the EA app, then a moment later the Windows box comes back up.  This will continue until I hit No.

     What do you mean by  "clean windows 10 install"?  Did you reinstall Windows? That's insane.

    Yes insane but I had no choice. First I did a roll back to a previous restauration date, when i still had origin installed, but origin was messed up, and didn't want to work anymore. Reinstalling the EA app gave me the UAC loop again. It almost took me a day to reinstall windows, office and all the programs I daily use. * happens.

    OK, but I'm not doing that for a 9 year old game that's 3 versions behind.  I don't think I'd do that for any game.  And I'm sure as hell not going to reward EA by buying 2042 in its place, which I suspect is what this is all about. Sounds like a conspiracy theory, but would you put it past them?

    Credit to my son for this fix... maybe it will work for you guys.  Worked for me.

    Close the EA App and stop all EA Services.

     Go to C:\Program Files.... \EADesktop

    Find the EADesktop.exe file and set that file to Run as Administrator.

    I'd been focused on the BF4.exe file. and I think i set the EA App shortcut to run as admin but not the actual exe file.
