Can only find exe.old files in EAdesktop folder

Hello everyone=

Support told me to open a post in here while they work on the ticket at the same time.

TL:DR of  what happened. Updated a game (Sims4) yesterday, today my Shortcut was gone.

To investigate why my shortcut to the EA app was gone I opened C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop and saw that my eadesktop.exe file was replaced by eadesktop.exe.old. Same goes for the other ones that are linked to the launcher (install exe, de-install exe). 

This means I can not de-install launcher. If I try to de-install I get the error message attached. 

Also, I tried renaming the file to remove the .old but I get an error message that the file is opened in the Windows explorer.

Sooooo basically I am stuck right now.

Anyone got something similar happening?
