Thanks for your visit to the forums & sorry to hear that you're having issues with connecting your accounts.
Just so you know; if you can post here on the forums means that you already have an EA account. 🙂
If there is no other Xbox account already connected to that same EA account where you would like to connect it too, it should work. However, it is not possible to connect two different Xbox accounts/personas to one and the same EA account.
Regarding the error itself: this indeed does not sound good. Normally these kinds of errors can be fixed by the following troubleshooting steps:
- Clear the cache of the EA Desktop app: https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
- Remove EA Desktop from your PC https://help.ea.com/en/help/ea/ea-desktop/uninstall-ea-desktop-app/
- Reset the Xbox app on your PC: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/xbox-app-problem-in-windows-10-os/00b99d06-a3bd-4908-bcf9-1094c214854a
- Reboot PC
- Sign in with the Xbox app again with your Xbox Game Pass Microsoft account
- Download/install EA Desktop separately via https://www.ea.com/ea-app-beta
- Login there with your EA-account Microsoft Xbox connected account and make sure to click "Keep me signed in"
- Go back to the Xbox app and search for an EA Play for PC available game and click Download with EA Desktop/EA app.
Hopefully this works.
If this doesn't work, I would like to ask you to post a DxDiag of your system that shows potential underlying issues. You can find here how to create one: https://help.ea.com/en/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/
