It sounds like you may be resetting the password for the wrong EA account if you're not ever receiving that email. You can check if you're using the correct account by logging in here and seeing if your Xbox gamertag is showing under the Connections section. If your gamertag does not show here, that means you're logging in with the wrong email.
If you need help locating the account that your gamertag is currently attached to, you'd need to reach back out to live support- we wouldn't have access to your account details here on AHQ to look into this with you. You can contact live support on the help site here, or you can reach out through Twitter or Facebook for help as well.
Currently I have unlinked my gamertag from my EA and then was asked to re-link. When I go to relink, I use the EA Help button at the top and follow those directions. I give EA permission with my Microsoft to link and it then just sends me to update my password to access my account. It does this every time and I have lost track of how many times I have tried this and when I check "Connections" when finally logged in with yet another password, there is no connections listed.
I just would like to go back to playing the EA games I have bought...

That sounds like your Xbox gamertag is already linked to an EA account in that case- and when you're being prompted to reset the password, you're resetting it for the wrong EA account. You would need to check some of your other emails for that password reset to locate what account your Xbox gamertag is currently attached to, or you can reach back out to live support so they can help you locate that account.
You're not going to be able to link the gamertag to a different EA account if it's already linked up to another EA account.

I can't link my EA account to my Xbox account either. Don't know how to solve it.Hope to help solve the problem thank you
