Can't open EA app or the Sims 4 app

Question

A few days ago the EA app icon became grey with a line over it and when I clicked it I got a message saying "You can't open the application because it may be damaged or incomplete". I tried to restart and update my Macbook but it still didn't let me open the app. What's weird is that I could still play the sims through the sims app in my launchpad and when I did that it would also open the EA app. I also repaired my game and it was working normal for around 4 or 5 days till I get this message when I try to launch the sims app "Origin is not installed, and is required to play your game. Please reinstall Origin". I don't know how to fix it and i've looked up solutions here and on youtube and other sites but I can't find a way. I also read that I can try to delete the ea app and redownload it but I'm hesitant to do it because I use an external hard drive and I don't know if it will mess up my game or the settings on it.

I also wanna include that about a week ago I downloaded 2 lots on Mediafire and I got a pop up ad and when I was opening my game I got a notification from my virus protection saying "Harmful file blocked" and the reason was malware, but my game still worked like normal so I don't know if it has anything to do with the problem.

I finally figured it out! If anyone has a similar problem try this: delete the EA app and download Origin. When you sign in to Origin use your email, not your username. For me when I tried to use my username Origin would crash and get stuck on the loading screen. When you’re signed in you just download the EA app from Origin and it should work like normal. This happens to me after every update to TS4. I keep a copy of the EAappInstaller file in my downloads. If you attempt to run the installer, it will give you the option to repair the EA app. This usually resolves the issue. You will have to repin the program to your taskbar, if you have it saved there.

To be perfectly clear, this is not a solution or a fix. EA still needs to resolve this problem. They must ensure their app works properly and not rely on users finding work arounds for its bugs.
