Cant play games offline

In Origin, I used to be able to access and play my downloaded games during internet outages. 

I tried to get my son on my computer to play Spore or the sims 4 offline and I can't even get to them because I'm just getting an offline error. This is ridiculous. Ive owned these games for years. Spore is old but it still works in offline mode just fine, but I can't access it to play without internet?

Why did the new EA App make games unplayable without internet connection? Part of the reason I purchase these games is because they are still playable offline!
