Can't Update/Download Sims 4 on EA app

Everything was working fine until I tried to install an update. An error message pops up that says "There's a problem with your download. Give us a few minutes and try again". This has been going on for months and I have tried everything. Cleared the cache, uninstalled the EA app (several times) and cleared everything related to sims off the hard drive to start completely over. Since doing that the base game won't download now. I've never used CC, I'm at a loss on what to do.
