[CLOSED Dec. 2023] "You Don't Have Access" error in EA app for Steam/Epic Games

Summarize your bug I bought Battlefield 1 on Steam but the EA launcher won't let me play it. I get the message "You don't have access".
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Buy a game on steam and try playing it.
What happens when the bug occurs? Error message saying "You don't have acess".
What do you expect to see? Expected to play the game. It won't start.

I bought Battlefield 1 on Steam but the EA launcher won't let me play it. I get the message "You don't have access".

My steam account is correctly linked and I have only one steam account and only one EA account. I've already restarted the computer, tried clearing cache, reinstalled EA app, run EA app as administrator, reinstalled MS visual C++ libraries, I've already tried starting the download of a free game then stopping the download, deleting EA folders on app data and so on. I've tried each and every workaround listed by you guys or by users on EA answers.

The other EA games I have were all bought from Steam and they work. The only one not working is the Battlefield 1 game that I got today.

I'll be forced to refund it if there is no way to fix it.

I'll also strongly suggest you guys to please ditch the launcher. It is a buggy mess that ruins the gaming experience, just let me play the game I bought directly from steam.

EDIT: after almost a full day of problems, the game started to work out of nowhere. I don't know if they manually added the game to my account due to the support ticket I opened or if they really fixed the issue for everyone. Either way I advise you all to send an error report (EA App -> Help -> EA Error Reporter).

    We would like to inform you that we have decided to close this AHQ thread for new reports regarding the sporadic "You Don't Have Access" error in the EA app for EA games being purchased via Steam or Epic Games. The reason behind this decision is that the thread was originally intended for a temporary issue related to the connection with third-party launchers (Steam/Epic Games), which has already been resolved quickly after it was reported.

    So, what does this mean?

    If you are still encountering this error, it could be due to one or more of the following reasons:

    • You previously played a trial version of the game that has now expired. Please verify if your EA Play membership is still valid.
    • You are signed in with the wrong account in the EA app, Steam, or Epic Games. Make sure you are using the correct account(s) for all relevant clients.
    • Instead of launching the game through the partner (Steam/Epic Games) launcher, you are using a direct desktop shortcut. We kindly remind you to launch EA games purchased through Steam or Epic Games only via those platforms. This ensures proper synchronization of your account and entitlements.
    • Check if any antivirus, anti-malware, or similar programs are blocking the game, the EA app, or Steam/Epic Games.

    If you have already thoroughly checked the above information and are still experiencing the error, please create a new thread.
