Dead Space 3: overlay is broken, cannot invite friends to co-op games

Summarize your bug The EA overlay turns into a blank blue screen when I click on a friend to invite them to a co-op game in Dead Space 3
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Launch Dead space 3 Create a co-op game Try and invite a friend.
What happens when the bug occurs? The overlay goes from a largely blue screen with my friends icons on the right side bar to just a blank blue screen and my friend is not invited.
What do you expect to see? A message saying my invite was sent.
I and my friend can play dead space 3 single player just fine, but when he cannot find my games with the "find a friends game feature" nor can I invite him to one due to the overlay not working. I gifted him the game specifically so we could play, so this is rather vexing.
