EA app closes/crashes after launch

I had the problem today, I fixed it by clicking on the two boxes below, then when I launched the app, I had the same problem EXCEPT that Windows offered to fix the bug. I tried it and said yes, and it worked! I don't remember exactly what it said, but it said "Windows 8." I didn't really understand, but it worked.
