Thanks for the update. It is unfortunate to read that it hasn't worked yet.
Could you perhaps reboot your modem/router, sign out/in of the EA app and check if it works now? You might need to perform an EA app recovery in between: https://help.ea.com/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/.

I did the download and can play without any problem. It was related to EA account indeed.

I'm running into the exact same issue as original poster.
Log states the following and have tried all possible troubleshooting steps to no avail.

Hi @EA_Leeuw I am having the same issues. I try to download EA play version of the game, but it keeps saying that I owned the gold edition (refunded previously) and would prompt error every time I try to download.

- 3 years ago@EA_Leeuw I seem to be unable to play tells me to update the game i have done several times cleared the cache did an app recovery got rid of origin uninstalled the game reinstalled the game, reinstalled the ea app please help
