EA App does not launch

When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Ever since January First 2023
Summarize your bug Since the start of the year I cannot open the EA app. I have tried the following: Uninstalling, Reinstalling (no change, also, the EA uninstaller is no longer responding now) Clearing cache (EA App Recovery does not respond, so cannot actually clear cache) Enabling all supported languages De-selecting "Keep me logged in" is not an option, as no log-in window opens. I have reset my password in browser as I was hoping maybe I'd get to the log in window next time I try opening the app, but no change.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I am not sure what this "we" refers to.
What happens when the bug occurs? First, I get error window 1: Simply put, there was an error Sorry, an unresolvable error occurred. Please restart the app. Then I click on Restart App and either nothing happens or error window 2 appears: Something went haywire Background services are not responding. Please hold while we kick off the update manually. Then I click Update A new black window opens which says "App already up to date. Exiting).
What do you expect to see? That the gd app will open when I launch it.

I have spent approximately 3 hours now trying to find a way to get help, browsing Answers HQ entries, trying suggested solutions that worked for other users, trying to de- and reinstall the app, and rebooting my PC. I am fed up. Does anyone have any idea what else I could try, or how on earth I can reach anyone at EA to get help with this?

I know there are already dozens of entries like this out there, but none of the answers to those helped with my issue, so sorry for spamming.

  • Okay so today I went through my daily ritual of trying to launch the app and oh wonder! Suddenly I can launch it! I wish I could tell other users what fixed it for me, but I legit have no clue. Good luck to other users struggling with this. Don't give up, maybe it'll magically resolve for you as well.

    I've been having the same problem recently, I can't uninstall it or repair it as it falls into these errors with the background services. I tried checking the service and it's stopping not stoped. It should say running, but I can't even press the start button that people say to do. It won't change. It was working fine until I was trying to update one of my games so I reset the app and it just stopped connecting to the background services. Maybe it will fix itself, but if it doesn't, it needs to be looked at. I can't play my games right now.

    Edit: So I was looking and discovered that you can force uninstall it so it was in the Windows drive and then in the hidden file program data and package cache. Find the folder named {C2622085-ABD2-49E5-8AB9-D3D6A642C091}v12.101.0.5358 and there, was a msi file that should have the name Ea Desktop within it. I right-clicked it and clicked uninstall and after it had finished I reinstalled and it works. I believe the background services weren't communicating with the app so it couldn't; perform a new update or uninstall it since they couldn't be closed.

  • I am having this problem also, mine started when EA uninstalled Origin and installed the EA App, It comes up with the error message "Simply put, there was an error  Sorry, an unresolvable error occurred. Please restart the app". When you restart the app the error message "EA has stopped working" comes up. EA app will not launch. I have also tried running the EA app as the administrator, uninstalling and installing, but that did not solve the issue either.
