Ea app doesn't work on older laptop, but I can't use origin either

The main computer I play the Sims 4 on is too old to support the EA app, so I deleted the app off my laptop. When I re-downloaded Origin for my MacBook Pro it continuously shows me the pop-up of switching over to the EA app, and it does not go away so now I can't play on my Mac. Is there any way I can fix this?
