EA app Error Code EC:201

Same! I can’t open the sims application either without getting an “ec:201” popup.

I have a Mac and had the same error. I had to delete the app and reinstall on my Mac twice because it was somehow corrupt. It finally worked.

topazkol, did you ever find a solution?

Seems like EA APP is tied to whether "settings / network & internet" in Windows 10/11 thinks you are connected to the internet or not. 

Like, if you disable the two services mentioned earlier, block access to the Microsoft web-page that these services connect to to check for internet connection, or if you have disabled any of the myriad of things through Group Policy (like in my case) that would show this as offline, the EA App will not work. All this, despite the fact that you probably are on the internet without issues... except for this shoddy feature in the EA App.
