EA App fails to start in Windows 11

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) N/A (Error Report App crashed three times)
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe Launching the EA App
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 22/04/22 10:00PM
Summarize your bug App loads and says, "connecting to app", screen then disappears with no error, when I try to load the app again, the EA app window loads, but with a blank screen. I think this is an error with the EABackgroundService service, as when I stop this, the login screen appears and seconds later the app crashes.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to load the App in Windows 11.
What happens when the bug occurs? The EA App doesn't work.
What do you expect to see? The EA App working.

I am running Windows 11, and have tried a fresh install of the app, and fresh installing all Microsoft Visual C++ redists. I've also tried using UTF-8 Beta encoding, to no avail. In the logs, the only notable error is, "12 [2023-04-22T22:11:59.176Z] PID: 18132 TID: 2408 ERROR (eax::components::gameLocalServices::GlsComponent::handleQtApplicationReady) An unrecoverable error happened when starting the app, handlers are not initialized."

  • i have put like 5 hours of trouble shooting into this issue and i stillo have not got it to work

  • Just updated to Windows 11, having the same issue (blank screen in the EA app). Have done all the recommended things (clear cache, reinstall C++, reinstalled the app), unable to play games through Steam as EA app can't seem to connect.

I have had similar symptoms which prevented me to play Titanfall 2 on Steam. What I saw in the logs matched exactly what OP wrote in previous posts.

I had other problems like Task Manager would freeze, and the Windows Display Options would not load.

It's when troubleshooting the Task Manager issue that I found a fix which is to disable the DeviceAssociation Service. I have not figured out what (device) is causing this yet though.

I believe there are 2 ways to do it:

1- go to Services and disable the service DeviceAssociation Service from there.

2- if it doesn't work (that didn't work for me), do run > msconfig.

In the Services tab, uncheck the DeviceAssociation Service and reboot.

Everything that was not working is now working.

Hope this helps some of you guys 🙂
