  • I have the same issue tried a lot of stuff, didn't help :((

What I already tried: clearing EA App cache, deleting InstallData, reinstalling EA App, reinstalling DirectX and Visual C++ from the installer folder, repairing all VC++ runtimes, rebooting the system, running EA App as administrator, deleting and redownloading the game, different path, forcing verification via folder rename, and even booting Windows in Safe Mode. None of these steps helped.

I’m experiencing a very strange issue installing Dragon Age: Inquisition – GOTY from Epic Games (which launches the EA App). The install always reaches about 97% and then fails, leaving the game folder around 27 GB with CAS files and Patch data present, but EA App still reports that the game is not installed.

What is confusing is the caching behavior. I tried removing every EA-related cache location I could find, including folders under ProgramData, LocalAppData, and AppData (Electronic Arts / EA Desktop / InstallData, etc.). After deleting everything and rebooting, I expected the download to start completely from scratch.

However, when I start the install again, EA Background Service immediately recreates InstallData and the game folder instantly jumps to ~27 GB, as if the same staged download is being restored from somewhere. It happens within seconds, so it clearly isn’t downloading from the internet again.

I even scanned the drives using WinDirStat trying to locate any hidden cache containing those files, but I couldn’t find anything matching that size. It feels like the installer is pulling the same cached container from somewhere on the system that I cannot locate.

Has anyone seen EA App restore a staged download like this even after clearing all visible caches? It’s honestly pretty confusing.
