EA App for MAC won't even Launch

Origin forced a switch to EA App but clearly EA hasn't bothered to make sure the App works before rolling it out.

The EA App won't launch when clicked. The Icon just bounces three times and nothing happens.

Used the migration tool.

Manually uninstalled origin because the migration tool didn't do that.

Downloaded and reinstalled EA App from the EA website.

Did that twice.

Manual Cleared Cache.

All other topics on this at least get an error.

This won't even launch.

The community manager in other related topics seems to hide their ineptitude by pointing to fixes that don't work or asking for data on the computer. This is a Mac sub-forum. There''s very little variation in software and hardware environments by design so it should be pretty easy to replicate a fault that is this widespread,

MAC OS Sonomo 14.5

You probably mean me. 😉 Hi, hello!

Sounds like you're running into an unfortunate issue alright.

When you try to start the app and it doesn't want to open, do you still see an EA process in the Activity Monitor? If so, could you:

    • Try to quit that process or anything related to EA,
    • Reboot your machine,
    • Open your Terminal on your Mac and type *snip*, press enter, and follow the on-screen steps,
    • See if the client launches without issues.

    Thanks.

  • @EA_Leeuw I just tried that and it took me back to "The app crashed unexpectedly. We ran into a problem, but a quick restart should fix it." I've deleted EA, and redownloaded multiple times, and nothings working to fix it.
  • My EA app is doing the same thing. I click on it, the icon bounces a couple times in the dock...and then nothing. It does not show up in the Activity Monitor. Nothing shows up in the Menu Bar. I haven't even received an app crash pop up like others have. It just shows up in the dock for a few seconds and then goes away. I've tried everything that you've posted in all of these threads and not a single thing works. I'd like to play my game that I've sent

You made a post telling us to enjoy a "more reliable experience" and told us that our "transition to the EA app is hassle-free" and it's literally been the exact opposite.

I'd REALLY like to play my game that I've spent over a thousand dollars on so can we please get some answers besides "clear your cache" and "download and install a new copy"????

Me too! I've tried all the recommended options but nothing is working. Why can't we just have a working Origin app while EA tries to fix this.

  • Two days later, still can’t launch the app. A pop up appears “The app crashed unexpectedly” and when I click on restart the app another pop up says “something went wrong and the service failed to start” and i can’t get any further

  • @EA_Leeuw Okay, yep sorry, that was uncalled for, you're ept and probably good looking to boot.

The terminal work-around did the Job so well done but the fact you have to use terminal at all for the EA app is crazy cringe.

@quickdrw, All good. 😉 About the Terminal commands: It's also not something I really like having to suggest using, but it unfortunately sounded like it was needed in this case. (I'll also remove it from my post now just in case.) Still, I'm glad it helped.

For the rest: I'll be closing this thread as OPs issue has been resolved. If you're experiencing the "The app crashed unexpectedly" or "Background Services Crashed" on the EA app for Mac, please go here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/Mac-EA-app-quot-The-app-crashed-unexpectedly-quot-or-quot/m-p/13725926#M657.

    Thanks.
