I was finally able to get a chat with ea support after a roundabout way of starting a case, back and forth replies with unhelpful troubleshoot links which with enough responses back saying these were not helpful I was finally connected to a live chat.
Essentially, confirm you've done all the usual steps we can all google which of course i had. connected to another support "dedicated team". Was suggested to delete all Local app temp data files and folders and use program to uninstall all things associated with my games and the app which from what i could tell also included every bit of game registry which includes all my games progress or ea app friends.
Told them this is a no go. Linked this in forums explaining they cant expect everyone here to delete everything about their games and progress. That would be crazy.
was told to clear app data cache which has already been done. then explained this issue is being elevated and essentially that was it. I was told to upvote these issues in the forums so it gets highlighted to the team and requested my case not to be closed and remain active. I made screen recording of the scrolling of the active chat but it cannot be posted here apparently.
