EA App not able to open and download on MAC

EA app wanted to update yesterday but got stuck and quit responding on my desktop, on my MAC which is up to date in software. I uninstalled the EA app, which is something I've done numerous times in the past and was able to reinstall without issues, however yesterday I was able to download off of the EA website then when opening it the file kept shutting off. I deleted the app package and reinstalled numerous times, ran an Disk Utility repair on my MAC, restarted several times and still nothing. Even googled and followed instructions that had me inputting codes into the computer's Terminal and still nothing. I was able to open the EA download with the Unarchiver which upon opening promptly shut down and gave me the error message that the "EA app.pkg is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash." The EA app is completely inaccessible, and I have never had this issue before. I am unable to play any of my EA games. Please help!

    Hey Siminista35

Thanks for taking the time to walk us through all the steps you've already taken to troubleshoot this issue!

If you haven't already, please quit the app and try following the steps on this page to clear all the residual files that uninstalling may miss. After that, delete the app and the installer, restart your device, and download a new version of the installer and launch it.

Let us know how it goes, thanks!

    No problem Siminista35

In that case, the problem might be on the macOS level. We can try the step below, though please continue at your discretion as this will involve computer-level changes that we will not be able to support:

    • If the system is Intel-based, try resetting the SMC
      • Check if your device is Intel-based by doing the following:
Apple menu > About this mac

Then check if it says "chip" (Apple Silicon) or "processor" (Intel).

If resetting the SMC doesn't work or the system isn't Intel-based, try the method below:

    • Reinstall the current version of macOS to repair any broken permissions (using macOS Recovery or method of your choice)

Feel free to also try the troubleshooting steps mentioned earlier right after resetting the SMC or reinstalling macOS. Keep us posted, thanks!

  • It was resolved, it was a hard drive issue. I took my Mac in and had to get a new hard drive. Everything is working fine now. Thank you for all your help.
