EA App not working on MacOS

I am a MacOS user. When I open Origin I get the prompt to upgrade to the EA App. I downloaded it and it works fine. The issue is my Mac was actually already on its last legs. Not enough storage to even attempt to open any games. I had already planned to get a new one.

Yesterday, my new Mac arrived and I migrated all my apps over from the old one. The EA app doesn’t launch/open/work at all even though it says it’s installed. I uninstalled, reinstalled over and over. I did the same with Origin. I can’t use Origin cause the only thing I can do in that is upgrade to EA app, but EA App is acting like it doesn’t exist on my device.

Can someone please give me some advice. My old device is running on OS Catalina which is the minimum requirement for the EA App. My new one was running on Ventura when I first tried to use the EA app, but is now running on OS Sonoma, the newest operating system. I can’t understand how it’s not working. Am I missing something? Obviously I’d love to get the EA app to work but at this rate, I just want my Origin app back. I have tried downloading older versions of Origin so I can play without it wanting the upgrade, but none of them will connect to online mode (which I need to re-download my games!)

Hello I have an update. Today I have deleted EA app and download it again on the official website and it works. A new version has been released but now I don’t succeed to update My Sims 4 😂 (it’s stuck to 639 MB, ang I have 434 GO available on my disc…) Another day another problem !

  • When I try to use Origin it redirects me to EA app. When I download the EA app, I cannot even see the games section. It doesn't work at all. No part of the application works. I deleted the app and reinstalled it, problem not solved. I can't play the games because I can't access them. I also updated my Macbook and there is no problem there either.

    How do I fix that?

  • This is happening to me too. I’m so frustrated. Origin has been broken on my MacBook (2017) for awhile and I keep having to reinstall because the Origin app crashes or refuses to open. Now that I have the EA app it says my password doesn’t work, and then glitches, next it gives me an error code (106) and then says to try again later, when I try to log in. This is very annoying as I want to play the Sims games I’ve paid for. Is EA going to fix this?! Ugh.

  • Hi I'm having a similar issue! EA app had been working absolutely fine for about 2 weeks after I switched from Origin and then all of a sudden two days ago it just started refusing to open?? I have a lot of CC and had just downloaded a bunch of new stuff so thought maybe I had some kind of virus that was stopping apps from opening, anyway just in case I ran CleanMyMacX and did a HUUUUGE storage clear out and deleted a bunch of my old CC. Tried opening the EA app again aaanddd... nothing. When I click on it in my dock it bounces maybe 5 times then just stops and never actually opens/launches. I tried removing all my cc out of the sims 4 game folders - still not working, tried deleting the sims 4 app ALL my electronic arts folders, AND the EA app and redownloaded it from the website hoping it would finally work but again NOTHING! Honestly I'm very very frustrated I just wanna be able to play my game, I can't use origin because every time I try downloading that it just makes me download the ea app WHICH DOES NOT WORK no matter what ive tried >☹️ I can't understand why it was working fine a few days ago and now it won't even open the app? Also I have tried checking for updates and scanned it for any bugs using CleanMyMacX but there's nothing, the app isn't even showing an error message when I click on it and its not even showing as "not responding" when I go to try and force quit it, it just NOT THERE. Its like it doesn't exist someone PLEASE help.

    Hi Guys!

I have fixed my EA app!!!! Yayyyy

I'm not sure what made me think of this but I thought I would try going into my finder and just searching up Electronic Arts in the search bar (top right) Three folders named electronic arts came up, I was hesitant at first but I have already saved all my custom content on my desktop in a separate folder so I went ahead and put all three folders in trash them emptied my trash. For some reason when I once again went to launch the EA app IT FINALLY WORKED! I'm not very computer savvy and I don't know exactly why this worked for me or if it will work for everyone but its worth trying as my app is now back up and working as normal!

  • @CMcI1 I fixed it through same method !! 나도 이 방법으로 고쳤어요 !!! sonoma 14.5로 update 하고 고생했는데 Solved it!!

  • Like imagine buying a book, but you can't open the book, because the cover is broken, but you spent 1200 dollars on the book?

  • that same thing is happening to me. it picks and chooses when it wants to work.

I wonder if (at least for me) if this is an issue on my mac bc the ea app will prompt me to enter my mac credentials randomly. sometimes the app will work, sometimes it wont.

the ea app for mac has created the worst experience ive ever had in the 20+ years ive been playing the game franchise.

Origin app has never given me any issues, Ea app has been an absolute nightmare to try to navigate.

and im sure no one wants to have to uninstall a client (ex. ea app) and reinstall client to *fingers crossed* hope that the app works  OR have to constantly restart their machine...
