EA App recovery is not working.

I tried to open Sims, but I need to update it first. So I do. And then it's stuck on 48% for like half an hour. I read that clearing the cache should fix it. I go to App Recovery and click "clear cache". The EALaunchHelper app opens, says it's connecting to the EA App... and nothing happens. It closes itself and the EA app just opens back up. I've been sitting at my computer for three hours and honestly I'm so sick of this. Someone please help.
