EA APP REFUSING TO SHUT DOWN

EA App Refusing to Shut Down - Says 'Can't Restart, Close Game Session' When There is No Game Playing:

I have been having this issue for about a month now. I have been completely unable to access anything on the EA app on my MacBook Air. I was able to play The Sims 4 for about a year or so until all of a sudden, when I had closed the game one day, I was unable to open the EA app or shut it down. I cannot even restart my computer because the app is refusing to close. I have tried uninstalling the app, yet it comes back and says 'Cannot uninstall, close current game session' but THERE IS NO GAME PLAYING!!!!

I looked up online about how to possibly do it and have also searched for someone experiencing the same thing but have found nothing. I have had Mods installed but I already removed all of them and the app is still unresponsive

To help understand what I have already tried, I made a list:

- Tried to uninstall app

- Tried to log out

- Tried to restart app

- Tried to exit out of EA

- Tried to reach out to EA

- Tried to clear cache

- Removed all Mods

- Attempted to download a new version of app

- Tried using 'App Recovery' option

The first one is what pops up in general with the EA app since it does not close, that's the message that is showing up. The second one is the message I get when trying to restart/uninstall/update/app recovery. 

I have already reached out to EA about this and have not heard back from them so I am very frustrated but hopefully someone can help me out!
