I was having the same issue too!
I fixed it through the following steps (on Windows 11 OS):
- Navigate to File Explorer
- Go into 'Program Files' folder
- Go into 'Electronic Arts' folder
- Go into both 'EA Desktop' folders
- Scroll down until you find the 'App Recovery' file, double-click it
- A confirmation window will popup with the option to 'clear cache'
- After cache is cleared, the app should restart on its own and the update will start again.
