EA App will not load, will not let me launch any games

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post)
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Launch Game
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 03.21.2023 03.22.2023
Summarize your bug After my PC has been turned on for the first time in a day, when the EA App launches it shows all games in my library but lists them as "loading" and will not launch any of them. This happens despite my internet connection being strong.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Turn a PC on, launch the EA App and see if your library actually loads.
What happens when the bug occurs? All of my games say they are loading and will not launch. This does not go away without rebooting the PC.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to play my games after launching the app.

Yesterday, I opened the EA App and it would not load any game. When I right clicked my games, they all said "loading" then, a little yellow banner appeared in the top of the EA App that read "Things are taking a little longer to load than usual to load up. Hang tight while we try to solve the problem." I waited about 5 minutes with not change, I checked my internet connection--no issues there, I tried closing and opening the app again. I tried signing in and out of the app again. Eventually, I was able to fix it by rebooting. The same thing happened today when I tried to boot up my game. It's been ten minutes today and the EA App is still telling me all my games are loading and to simply "Hang Tight."

The only thing I can think of that might be causing this is that I turn my computer off in between uses. The EA App seems to struggle with this already in a couple different ways (it won't save my username after reboot, and if I boot my computer up without internet I have to connect to my internet and log in to the EA App first before offline mode becomes an option) so my guess is it's related to that. I do not have this issue if, after I finally get the EA App to work, I don't turn my computer off before booting the app up again.

Having to reboot my freshly turned on PC every time I want to play a game is pretty silly, this was never an issue with Origin. I really wish the EA App had been brought up to the functionality levels of Origin before being forced on everyone. Terrible customer experience EA.

  • Mine has been doing this consistently since March 14th for sure, though it did it every few launches previously (which is why I've posted in other forum bugs regarding a LARGE DESIRE for a functioning offline mode for games). I clear cache every launch, I restart computer every time, sometimes I let it sit for hours with no go. I have not been able to launch "the game" (aka, The Sims 4, I haven't touched any other game in my EA/Origin library in years). Not being able to launch via executable or in offline mode for a game I've owned since 2014 that should not require an active online connection... only to have an app that won't actually load properly. Is not a good look.

I attempt to launch multiple times a day every day. No go. I'd say I'd try to repair game files, except, you know, that shouldn't be the concern here since EA is acting like I don't even own a game to require said game to repair. I have also reinstalled EA App a few times, gone back and checked if there was any way to make the ACTUALLY FUNCTIONAL Origin load without the stupid migration push (no-go on my end, I've tried several things).

This service is exhausting and makes any ideation of spending money on future games very, VERY low. I like to play the games I "own" you know?
