EA Desktop App - Library won't load

Since yesterday, I cannot play any of my EA games because the EA Desktop App cannot download or open them.

Reproduction steps (option 1):

  • Open EA Desktop App
  • Go to Library tab
  • EA Desktop fails to load the games, with a message that "Things are taking a bit longer to load" (See screenshot)

Reproduction steps (option 2):

  • Click desktop icon for any EA game
  • EA desktop launches and opens the Library page
  • The same UI shows, with the same error message and no games available

I have not changed anything on my account, PC, or games in the last few weeks. Please help me fix this. Thanks!

    Hi everyone,

    I'm closing this thread as it has become quite old and somewhat outdated.

    If you're still experiencing the same or a similar issue, it might be due to one of the reasons listed below:

    Issues with the EA app Library Loading and Functionality

     

    We've seen a slight increase in issues reported regarding the functionality of the EA app, such as the library not loading correctly and certain features not working as expected.

    These issues seem to often be linked to the use of ad-blocking or DNS filtering tools like Pi-Hole or AdGuard, or VPNs with a strict DNS filter. Disabling these services may help alleviate these problems.

    Common symptoms experienced due to the use of such blocking services include, but is not limited to:

    • Incomplete loading of the EA app library.
    • Game tiles appearing greyed out.
    • Download button missing.
    • Friends list failing to load.
    • Etc.

    If you're encountering any of these issues, consider disabling your ad-blocking or DNS filtering tools to see if it resolves the problem. Additionally, it has been discovered that whitelisting the domain "sdk.split.io" (without quotation marks) in the configs of your services should resolve the issue.

    Hello @JackFlash42 

    Have you try to clear the EA App cache ?

    1. Select the three dashes in the far-left corner of the EA app.
    2. Scroll to Help.
    3. Click App recovery.
    4. Select Clear cache.

    Thanks for the suggestion! Clearing the cache did not work on its own, so I cleared the cache, and restarted + updated my PC. When it turned on again, the EA app required an update, and now I can see my games again.

    I have same problem and tried the solution but did not work for me. It still wont open. It did work when my friend logged onto my account in his pc though.

    I am having the same problem.

    I ran into this problem yesterday, and the EA app needed to be updated. I updated it, and had no problem up until earlier this evening and nothing is working. I tried clearing the cache (Option: App Recovery, under Help), and restarting the app numerous times, restarted my PC numerous times. I don't know what else to do.

    I even reinstalled ea app having the same problem. This has always happened from time to time being that sims 4 is a single player game makes me even more livid.

    That is all i get even after a reinstall. Should never have to do all this over a single player game.

    I'm seeing this same issue. And nothing is helping. 
    I was able to get my library back once, when I updated the app but then the next day, it was bugged out and empty again.
