Yeah, you're right. On my rig, it's just a temporary workaround (at startup) as the execution of the service is tied to the xbox app if you subscribe to EA Play for example. The EA Desktop App simply just doesn't work if it is disabled completely.

@Mand1sis Every week I check back here to see if it’s been fixed. Guess I’m still waiting.

Yup, I uninstalled the stupid bloatware almost a year ago now

Even when set to "manual", the service starts itself up randomly, constantly running in the background, phoning home until the computer is shut off or restarted. There's probably another agent running under a different name starting the other service up.
Genuinely, unapologetically, EA spyware.

EA Desktop. Liked the new look, hate the background service running even when the application is not. Uninstalled within minutes.
