I've been having launch issues with this game on Windows 10 for probably a year now and have yet to find any permanent solutions. I bought this game in late 2015, and even when I had an Origin Access/EA play membership, it had always ran fine. Now whenever I click play, I get the error message saying "Failed to Launch Game double-check your connection, or try again later". The problem began around the time I switched to the EA app, and/or when I cancelled my membership, in favor of the one included with Xbox Game Pass. The app switch and membership change happened very close to each other if I remember correctly, so I don't know for sure which one, if not both, were the cause. Also the game is not currently modded.
A few days ago, I was trying different solutions to the year-long problem. The one that I believe worked was unlinking Game Pass from my EA account. The game launched flawlessly for two or three days, something that hasn't happened for around a year. After those few days, I linked Game Pass back to my EA account, and once again got the "Failed to Launch Game double-check your connection, or try again later" error I had been getting for a year. I also cannot unlink my Game Pass anymore, as I have to wait 6 months in order to unlink it again.
I've tried:
- Double-checking my connection.
- Updating drivers.
- Clearing the EA App cache multiple times.
- Running the game and EA app as admin.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling Sims 4 multiple times.
- Uninstalling EA app with and without Revo uninstaller then reinstalling it multiple times.
- Making an exclusion for the game in Windows Security.
- I renamed the folder where my game was downloaded from "Origin Games" to "Ea Games" (Which I had thought fixed it, until I relinked my account and realized this was likely not the issue.).
- Only solution that worked was unlinking Xbox Game Pass (stopping the EA Play membership), but like I said, I cannot do this again until 6 months from now. Not that I want to keep it unlinked.
The only thing I haven't tried is completely resetting my pc, which I refuse to do. I also have the game downloaded with this account on a Mac (which still uses Origin), and has worked about as well as gaming on a mac can get.
Seriously, I just want to play the game that I've spent hundreds of dollars and two thousand hours on.
