Game does not load into maps or shut down properly. Since EA App
Hey, yet more issues with the game.
A big one for me now is that ever since switching over from the "Origing Thin" clinet (when launching through steam) to the EA App, i've had issues getting into server on first boot of the game after a cold boot of my system. Thi can happen for multiple maps I try to load into after a cold boot of the system and can persist for 3+ maps, there's no telling how long it could take. The seems to freeze on the loading screens of the maps, the + is rotating as usual, then freezes and never comes back.
The even bigger issue here is that the game doesnt shut down properly when launched through steam. If I close the game properly, pressing the "Quit" button or "Exit" whatever the button is called and the game closes, Steam Constantly shows "Running..." and the EA App does not close, if I try to close it via right click > exit EA App tells me that there is a game still running.
I tried to find BF2042.exe in Task Manager to force close it but nothing appears. I CAN use process Lasso to see a list of processes running, and that DOES show BF2042.exe although if I try and force close it with Process Lasso, nothing happens, the process is closed but Steam still shwos "Running..." and the EA app still wont close with the same message as above.
I've also noticed that after closing BF2042, that my GPU will not throttle down, now I did see a thread about this being a driver issue, but it's not happening with any other game, I tested, F1 Manager, Grounded and Spider-Man, yeah I know it's not "every game" but it's enough to show it's not happening when launching & closing those games after playing them for a bit.
5900X @4.9GHz
3080 10GB @1890MHz
32GB 3600 M/T RAM
Win11 22H2
GPU Driver: 522.30 & 526.47
Things Tried for Loading map issue:
- Turning off all Overlay Software
- Stock settings for both CPU and GPU (no undervolts)
- Deleting Settings Folder in /Documents
Nothing seems to work for the shut down thing, just seems to happen every time I close the game the intended way.
These two issues seem to be seperate, as in I have to Alt + F4 when the game freezes on the loading screens, this doesnt cause the 2042 process to hang and not be exitable, also noted that this does not cause the pinned GPU 1710MHz clock.
The GPU clock pinning is only when i've been able to get into a server and play the game though.
UPDATE:
It does seem like the clock pinning is to do with the driver, but weird it only happened after playing 2042 for me. Down clocking is working as it should after playing 2042 on the previous driver.
