Game not updating/stuck on "downloading"

Question

hello,I was prompted to update the game today as I haven't been on in about 2 weeks and so I updated it but it would get stuck in an update loop for over an hour. I canceled the update, restarted the EA app, tried to update again and the same thing happened before it got stuck on "downloading" for about 20 minutes and it hadn't moved. I cleared the app cache, restarted the app once again and all of the above happened again, meaning I can't play the game as the update just gets stuck indefinitely. Please help!Mac ver: sonoma 14.5Mac type: 2022 MacBook air M2 chip, 8gb ram, 256(?)gb

i got in touch with ea support and did these following steps which helped:

removed mods folder if you play with mods

shut down your mac, then restart it in safe boot mode, then attempt to update the game

this worked for me and the game finally updated after a few update loops!
