The problem persists still.. I can't download Apex, nothing works. I tried clearing cache from the app, reinstalled the whole thing even. I wish someone helped in a way that's more than just "use ccleaner".
Well okay. I got so far as removing this string from every file that had _DiP_Staged in its filename and that made the EA App recognize my Apex installation. I still couldn't start it since it "needed to be updated" which of course failed. As per the suggestion of another thread I ran Touchup.exe after which indeed the EA App finally recognized my installation as genuine.
I could actually start it and compile shaders etc. but it crashed right away after displaying the main menu with various wrong pak version messages. I tried Repair on the game.. well guess what... it keeps redownloading 25 gigs and never actually repairs anything... cache clear, reboot, nothing helps.................
Details of my attempts:
Ran this in the Apex folder as admin in Powershell:
Get-ChildItem -Recurse *_DiP_Staged | Rename-Item -NewName { $_.Name -replace '_DiP_Staged','' }
After that I tried running Touchup.exe with the following params:
.\Touchup.exe install -repair -locale en_US -installPath "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Apex" -autologging
