Same issue for me. Went it for BF4 yesterday, Origin forced me to install the EA rubbish and from there on the screen started flickering, "EA APP CAN'T CONNECT", the PC slowed, the app wouldn't close and would stay up while being invisible, no game in sight while present in task manager. Absolute garbage.
Tried everything and still no success.
Uninstalled all games and Origin.
Installed EA app still Blank Screen, OMG this is frustrating to say the least.
Removed EA games and Reinstalled Origin and forced into pop up to install EA app.
What a CRAZY LOOP !

what about the hosts file
I can't be 100% sure myself but I'm not willing to undo it to see what it does.- 2 years ago@speedracer523
I tried to block the connection 127.0.0.1 api1.origin.com and it worked realy. But only one time. And after closing the game the PopUp appeared again. After i tried to block it again the popup was still there.
May you found a other solution to disable the PopUp ?
I tried with the software " proxifier " deactivate connections but without any success. Maybe you can do it better.- 2 years ago
@TrueMatrix did you restart origin? (close it via notifications and stop background services)
because my origin after launching a game still doesn't have the popup. (which means I'm probably not going to do further tests)
@DragonGoonster interesting...
if you've indeed relaunched origin after closing all origin processes than it could mean that the latest version of origin may use a diffent pathway for the popup
my version 10.5.118.52644 doesn't show the popup

ALSO another thing to note is that in my case I did also restore the origin data folders to BEFORE the popup appeared (and blocked the api address before attempting to launch). So maybe there's something there that flags the popup to appear even if it can't connect to the web address to check for it.
it had been a shot in the dark to perhaps get ea app to reinstall correctly?, and it still seems the popup is a browser page of sorts...
If anyone's origin can sign in offline (after quitting it fully and closing background service) without showing an error page, does the popup still show then?
If it still does with your whole pc offline and without origin services running. Then there's also something in the files for the popup to show, and no amount of blocking will remove the popup from showing, but may stop it if you can revert to a state where it hadn't shown.
