My thoughts too. I hate this already and I just installed the stupid EA app. I already miss Origin.
You can still use Origin client. Some are saying you can re-install it after you've installed the EA app so, then you'd have both.
I guess they're doing this cuz some games need the EA apps background service to work properly.
So, if you want Origin client still, just re-download it.....you can get it from multiple places....or;
https://www.techspot.com/downloads/5783-origin.html
Stop origin client loading EA app message;
1. Open C:\ProgramData\Origin\local.xml in notepad
2. Add new key there:
<Setting key="MigrationDisabled" type="1" value="true" />
This should go at bottom just above the last line which is "</Settings>."
Save the file and exit. Now launch Origin and that stupid notice will be gone.
Congrats...you can now play your games properly.

I finally gave up and re-installed Origin from the "Full" installer package instead of the "Thin" installer.
There seems to be an issue with the thin installer version. I recommend using the "Full" version Origin
installer after it installed and actually ran updates to the installation and restored full function of Origin
Client and gave me back full access to my game library...
The other tip helped out I am sure. After it updated and "Online Login" was successful I was able to use
Offline Login so I can access and play my single player games like usual.
If I can continue this way. WITHOUT the EA App. I will do so. There is only one new game and 2 DLCs
for an older game that I am interested in and it appears that I can still access the store to buy and down
load them so I may do that soon. At least once the game I am waiting for becomes actually available.
To EA Games Support. Please remove the EA App until you get it fixed so that it works correctly AND so
it migrates ALL customer game libraries over properly. There seem to be far too many posts about those
issues as well as the CAN NOT INSTALL EA APP issues.
And that is why you need to properly test and insure vetting of ANY app or program before you shove it
out the door as "Ready to use".. Clearly the EA App is NO WHERE NEAR READY TO USE!
And that may be considered my personal opinion but the forums show that it is not mine alone.
And considering how long I have been using Origin between 3 computers and the years of time back
and forth with EA Games support. Having my extensive history wiped clean making me a novice rookie
when I tried to install the app was not cool at all. NOT AT ALL! My history goes all the way back to Win
XP and I have had that account for more than a decade with a library of more than 27 games.
Ok Gamers! That's my 2 bytes today! Best to all gamers!
- 2 years agoI am looking for another link for it. The original link still shows it is for Origin but it has been replaced with the EA App!!!
So far most links I have found have been the OriginThin installer which is only around 60mb.
IF you find it with more than 60 MB then you can expect it is most likely the "Full" .exe install.
I will keep looking and once I find it I will post it for you all.
In the mean time. Good luck!

Hi, I tried to disable the EA app by using " <Setting key="MigrationDisabled" type="1" value="true" /> " and it didn't work since the latest Origin update. Any new ideas please?

Follow the guide of "Ha_DHuWe":
"
UPDATED GUIDE FOR RETURNING TO ORIGIN
1) Uninstall your Origin, because the new patch (10.5.122) from EA broke everything again
2) Download the Origin Offline Installer (https://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe)
3) Install, be sure to remove the checkboxes from the paragraphs about "auto update"
4) After installation DO NOT log in to your account. Go to "C:\ProgramData\Origin" (attention, the folder "ProgramData" will be hidden by default), find there and open in Notepad (or any other text editor) file "local.xml", the last line there will be </Settings>, BETWEEN this line add this line (you will most likely need to add an empty line by pressing Enter first) <Setting key="MigrationDisabled" type="1" value="true"/>
5) Delete the three files called "OriginThinSetupInternal.exe" which are located at THREE LOCATIONS
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin
C:\ProgramData\Origin
C:\ProgramData\Origin\SelfUpdate\Staged
6) Log in to your Origin account, now everything should work There may be a little update notification on top of Origin window, just don't click on it (you can close it by clicking on the cross)

A class action against this arrogance would be needed... 😮

You are not of any help whatsoever as putting code into notepad doesn't do anything but save text and
is what I get whether it's the "thin" or full origin install. I ***can't get to S4!
I am not a tech, capisce?
Choosing Edit on the dropdown to that file I get WordPad and the following result:

Actually, user @tom_looken deserves all the credit for originally posting the solution--which I marked as the answer to our woes. I've just been re-posting this solution in various places to be sure others are finding it. A big thanks goes out to user tom_looken on this.
Also....in case some haven't been following all this threads (that were merged) it was mentioned to be possible to install EA client and then do a clean install of the Origin client afterwards. Then apply the code line in the local.xml of course after first attempt at logging in on the Origin cient. This way you could start EA client, minimize it, start Origin and run your game from Origin. This supposedly resolves an issue with some games that are looking for the EA client background process to be running. Again, that's not MY solution....just paying it forward.
Edit: Also....the links for downloading the Origin client made by EA Games just redirect you to downloading the EA client. That's why I had been posting the link I've been using....which was at TechSpot-- https://www.techspot.com/downloads/5783-origin.html
However, there are other places still hosting previous versions of the Origin client. Just don't expect to find a 'good' link on EA's sites. But, be careful which source you choose...pick reputable sites to avoid potential virus and always virus check your downloads.
