I've noticed a lot of people mentioning the have FIOS and while I would feel better in a way knowing it was a link to the issue, I don't think it is. While it is available in my area, I don't have it. I us a business DSL (Dual Line 150MB/s)..everything in my network outside phones are all cable connected.
I do think that the information provided by @stoppaladin7717 along with all of us that have VPN's being able to connect does lead to some interesting questions.
The main thing I am thinking of, is that for some reason, the Public IP's, or a range of them, that have been provided to us by our various ISP's, have been blocked or restricted by EA's servers.
My thinking on this being that of course our VPN's assign us different Public IP Addresses when connected (I mean, that is half the point of using them, right? haha) and what really made me think this, was when @stoppaladin7717 mentioned removing their Double NAT. Doing so, and resetting the routers should have pulled a new Public IP from the ISP.
If this is the case, of course this is still an EA issue, and I would hope they figure out why various Public IP address ranges in seemingly random locations are being restricted.
Anyway, just my brainstorming thoughts this morning as I wait to see if EA will actually respond to the idea there might be an issue here...
Post Update: Oh, and for those of us with just standard routers/modems in a regular configuration, resetting or restarting probably won't work, as that usually doesn't reassign a new Public IP address.
However, you can call your ISP and request that a new IP address be issued from them, they will remotely reboot your modem/router and issue the new IP address (At least that's how my ISP does it).
