I was in offline mode, and it won't let me play offline because the app needs an update? This doesn't make sense to me. How do I open my game, already in offline mode, and it saying the app needs an update?
panpan6222 Does the EA App need an update, or Sims 4? Updating the App is trivial, usually, but if the App is telling you that you need to update the game, there's not much you can do. One thing you can try though is launching through TS4_x64 or TS4_Launcher_x64, here by default:
C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin
I have no issue playing in offline mode when the game needs an update, but I can't play in offline mode when the app needs an update. The method you said has never worked for me.
panpan6222 Right, the App can be stubborn like that. I do sometimes have the option to restart and update "later," but I don't know how effective that is.
As for how this happens, it's possible the App has a built-in timer that only allows you to stay offline for a certain amount of time before it requires that you go back online to at least check for updates. I don't know whether this is the case, but it would make sense. And the App gets updates often enough that there would probably be one waiting for you.
