I am getting invalid code error when trying to redeem my game key!

Summarize your bug I am trying to redeem a key. When I enter the code it comes up with the correct game and says accepted, but once I press confirm I get an error "The product code you entered is not valid. Please re-enter the code." This is the first time I have tried activating this key (obviously).

I got a free key for Jedi Fallen Order on prime gaming about a year ago. It was the type where they just give you a game key and you don't have to connect your origin account. I tried activating it on the EA app and when I paste it in and type next it comes up with the right game and says accepted, but when I click confirm i get an error: "The product code you entered is not valid. Please re-enter the code." The game is not in my library, I have obviously not activated the code before.
I have tried multiple times and even tried activating it on the site instead of the app but nothing works.
How do i fix this error and get my game?
