iDEAL Payment Option Unavailable on EA app and Web in NL/BE (Since Oct. 2024)

For about a week (since me writing this), I have been unable to use the iDEAL payment method when attempting to make purchases through the EA app. After selecting iDEAL as my payment option, I receive the following error message:


"We're unable to process your order at this time due to an issue with your provided payment method. Please use a different payment method to complete your order, or try again later."


Additionally, when trying to make a purchase on the EA website, the iDEAL option no longer appears at all. Previously, iDEAL would show up on the website, but it would give me the same error message when trying to complete the transaction. Now, the option is missing entirely.

My EA account region and EA app region are both set to "Netherlands" and I have successfully used iDEAL as a payment method in the past.

Could this issue please be investigated?

    Hello everyone,

    Thanks for reaching out about the removal of iDEAL as a payment option for purchases on the EA app and website (https://ea.com) in the Netherlands and Belgium.

    Due to some ongoing technical issues between our systems and iDEAL, this payment option isn’t available right now. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes and, unfortunately, don’t have an estimate on if or when it might return.

    In the meantime, we suggest trying other payment options like PayPal or credit card for purchases through the EA app or website.

    Thanks for your understanding, and apologies again for the inconvenience.

    Why did EA remove the iDeal payment option from the EA app and the website?

    I have set my EA account location to the Netherlands, but iDeal is no longer an option???

    (I was able to purchase the Life & Death pack roughly a month ago with iDeal from within the EA app...)

    Everywhere you search EA states that iDeal is still a payment option (both Dutch & English websites state that information), yet it's nowhere to be found.

    Why does this show as solved? There still isn't a pay through iDeal option in the payment list.

    Please continue to look into this and fix this. It is my only payment option and I would very much like to have it back.

    Which understanding am I supposed to have for the fact that we cannot purchase anything? We do not have PayPal. We do not have Creditcards. Most Dutchies don't have this. What understanding are we supposed to have for the fact that other international sites can figure out IDeal and this international and well used corperation can't?

    'We're sorry' and 'we do not have an estimate on if and when it might return' is NOT a suitable answer.

    Do you wish to sell your product yes or no? If yes, bring it back. Everyone else can do it, why can't you? If no. Well, ok... sales will be lost. Since you're EA and you live for your sales I cannot imagine that losing sales is really an option you wish to be going for. You care about money first, second, and third.

    What do you even mean, IF if returns? Are you actually saying that there is a possibility that you won't bring back the single most popular payment option available in the Netherlands? I am severely sorry, but are you guys out of your minds? Why on earth are you the one company that cannot figure out how to get IDeal to work on your site and app? You'd think that a place this big can have people available to sort this out.

    What kind of understanding are we supposed to have for this? That you guys simply don't give half a darn?

    Thank you for reading my Dutch honesty.

    Starting today I have the option to pay through IDeal once more.
