I know it has been a while, but this issue has bugged me for years as well. Finally found a solution that works, but you need to know the NAME and Letter of the original install drive.
Put your games in any drive you want, then change the name of that drive and the letter to match the one in your EA app/Settings/download. Ex: Toshiba (G:) You can can do this by right clicking the drive in File Explorer/Properties.
Then wallah, it automatically recognizes the Games! Good luck.
Did exactly this and no doesnt work. The whole path is correctly in the said manner and yet EA still to incompentent to see there are already files. Well they arent to incompetent but they purpusfully destroyed them all by rewriting all files as dip-staged. Well done EA you arent even just the **bleep**tiest and most greedy game company out there you are even the most incompetent one.
