Mac EA app - "Something went wrong" - Error EC:106 on EA app for Mac

I'm having the same issue. I just contacted EA and they're saying this has been happening to several people and that they're looking into it. So I think for now we just have to wait unfortunately. Wish I had my Sims 4 game on a flash drive or a CD right now..

Edit - split from thread on a different issue, edited title to better reflect issue (Bluebellflora)

Had the same problem - took me a few mins to fix and figure out why it's happening (have the same mac too). If you haven't fixed it already go to applications first (under finder). Right click the EA app and press 'Show Package Contents' - this should be under the open button. THEN you want to check if the installer is running properly so click on 'Contents' then 'Applications'. Try the launch helper or any of them. If NONE OF THEM WORK that means (like me) that you have some app blocking the installer.

For me it was my VPN so I went into security, then startup applications and enabled it to startup when you boot your macbook. If you don't have a VPN go to settings then search 'Login' and go to the login items and extensions. THEN you want to enable any EA app service there that is not allowed in the background.
Hope this helps, if it doesn't just reach out and I can help.
