[NEW Oct. 2024] - EA app and Error Code EC:204

Tend to play Sims 4 offline. Played earlier in the day offline with no issue. Later on, I played online for a few minutes (mostly to browse the gallery) and exited the game to switch to offline. However, when clicking the game to launch once going offline, the EA App states that my game license expired with an Error Code 204. I switch to online and launch the game with no problem. I play on laptop so playing offline helps reduce background activity and stress on the system. Not sure why my "game license" expired, I have all the receipts from purchase. Both Sims 4 and EA App are updated to latest versions.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for bringing up the issue with the EA app and Error Code EC:204 when going offline or trying to launch games with offline support like The Sims 4.

I can confirm that the EA app team released a new version (13.310.1.5818) last night, which includes a fix for this issue. The update should resolve the EC:204 error when going offline or launching offline-compatible games like The Sims 4. You should no longer encounter this problem.

The EA app should update automatically to this version. However, on Windows, you can manually check for updates by following the steps here. Unfortunately, this isn’t possible on macOS at the moment, but the update should install automatically the next time you open the client after last night’s fix went live.

When does this error occur? Is it when you manually set the EA app to offline mode and then try to launch an offline-play-supported game? Or does it happen when your machine has already lost internet connection and you attempt to launch a game?

My issue is that I can’t play the game I paid for offline. I’m not sure if the plan is to force people to update or what, but that’s what it looks like. The game was updated a week ago and I always play offline until my mods are ready and I’m unable to play/stream because of this issue …

I've played offline YESTERDAY. YESTERDAY!
And today I can't play for the EC:204

For the love of god please fix this. I don't want to be forced to update the game after every patch. This is ridicolous.

THIS ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED!
I and many other are still having this issue to this day. I’m still getting error code EC 204 whenever I try to play sims 4 offline. I haven’t been able to play my game for a month. EA CLAIMED THIS ISSUE WAS FIXED YEARS AGO. This issue is not fixed they either ignore people discussing this issue or when you go to live chat they say the team will investigate but they are not investigating or fixing nothing. Many people are unable to launch their games even after spending so much money. This is not an error it’s a way for EA to force people to play online and force updates on players who don’t want to update their games. EA IS FULL OF LIES AND GASLIGHTING!

I have been having this issue with sims 4 as well, I was unable to play the game offline. I really didn’t want to have to update all my mods especially as most of them have not been updated and I booked the weekend off to play and now I’ve just wasted my annual leave as I just keep getting the error code saying my licence has expired. Super upsetting
