Pack stuck on preparing in EA App for Mac

I uninstalled my Sims 4 game and in the process of reinstalling it, it has gotten stuck on a download of one of the expansion packs. It downloaded my base game fine and then downloaded the first expansion pack and then on the second expansion pack, it now just says "preparing" and has been stuck like that for hours now. I tried cancelling/pausing it to see if I could reset it but it won't even let me do that. I've tried to quit the app and log out then log back in but still, it just keeps showing the expansion pack as "preparing". It's just stuck in this state and I can't reset it in any way. Does anyone know how to fix this? I still have so many expansion packs I need to download and it already got stuck on the second one!
