@TheWizLeon I have seen this issues could be solved,
by just only launch steam as admin. It will run/start EA/Origin in the background somehow as soon ya click BF2042 in Steam.

Make sure Origin/EA launcher/desktop do not boot with windows !!

Finally found a fix!!!
Uninstall EA app and go to TECHSPOT and download the Origin installer, login and viola the game starts as usual.
Shame on EA for leaving us with such a bad experience for products we purchased.
