Re: Can't launch titanfall2 from Steam

I'm actually 100% out of ideas other than reinstalling windows which is totally insane. Can I please get a developer to help me out there, Is there an error log I can look at?

  • Update: Uninstall steam copy again.

I did a search for "titanfall" in my registry and proceeded to delete any key that was related to the exe or folder location. I removed about 15 to 20 items. I did not remove them all. there was a lot.

After that. I reinstalled the game again and it launched which is great news--but hold on. So this clearly is an issue with EA App thinking the game is somewhere where its not. I think there should be a button to re-point EA Desktop to the game files for the steam copy.  Pretty frustrating. However, to make matters worse I can't actually run TF2 from my original account anymore. The one were I'm G100. The game is not installed and EA Desktop won't let me install it.

    Wackamole.

  • So EA thinks the game is installed. Its not. I did app recovery cache clear for EA and it did nothing.

    Any suggestions?

  • So I copied the files to the folder the EA expected, but that did not resolve anything.

EA Desktop will not let me

    1. Download the game

    2. Show the play button

Can someone please tell me in what universe does the app not let me either download or run the game if I own it?  How hard can this be? I'm a little concerned I just lost access to my G100 account ☹️

I'll give that a try. The steam account is linked to a new account, not my G100.

I'm also to play on steam account now, but not my old account, I think i'll leave it like this for a while until I'm ready to switch back and then do the whole uninstall->reinstall situation. I believe this is a bug that no one has resolved with EA Desktop and TF2.

Thank you for the suggestions Poppy.

Okay, no worries at all, @LMS5100! 🙂

Our teams are currently also collecting some error reports to further look into these kinds of issues.

Check this thread on the Titanfall forum here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Titanfall-Games/my-titanfall-2-wont-launch/m-p/12917107#M55900

If you get any further issues with this further down the line, please check the above-mentioned link for further information and post your error report there if necessary.

  • @LMS5100 me too i bought and DLed the game through ea app and then ea app bugs immediately, when i spoke to my surroundings everybody told me EA APP is so trash nothing will work, go buy it on steam instead so i asked refund for the game then got myself a steam account and DLed again TTF2 there and guess what...it still requires the EA app to run but this time it goes into an infinite cycle of preparing the game - validating the game, but the game just won't launch. when the refund was approved TTF2 in my EA library just vanished so i couldn't uninstall it 'properly' i had to do it manually, and that might be causing it, which brings me to the next big question: is there no QA testers in EA ? nobody tests anything before releasing ? ever since origin became EA app, the bugs never stopped. i'm tired of this incapable company
