Re: Cant seem to go online on ea desktop

@cstnttr

Hey there! Have you tried re-installing the launcher to see if that would help fix this?

    Product: EA Desktop
    Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post)
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe Can't see online friends and/or can't go online on app
    When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 06.05.2021 01:00
Summarize your bug I have EA Play membership through Xbox Gamepass. I have been using the app since 1 or 2 weeks and i have been experiencing this sort of bug lately.
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Open EA Desktop App 2. Sign in 3. Launch the game ( in my case its Battlefield V ) 4. Now you can't send or receive invites from any friends cause you can't see them as online.
What happens when the bug occurs? I can't see my friend who is online at the moment and sometimes he can't see me. We sort of don't appear as online.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see and be able to invite my friends in game.

I tried killing the background process called EABackgroundService.exe and then re-opening the launcher and problem seems to be fixed but this happens a lot lately.

  • The same problem. I can browse through the pages and download gamjes. but no matter how many times I reload the page or reboot, It can't get my profile online yet I can't get online on the right side of the page.

    Hi @CHOCO-theKBG,

I haven't seen this issue before where only the friendslist won't connect, but we can start with some basic troubleshooting:

    • Clear the cache via the App Recovery app.
    • Reinstall EA Desktop Beta.
    • Temporarily disable your firewall and anti-virus or set up an exception for EA Desktop.

Give it a go and let me know what happens.

  • @EA_Jason Thanks a bunch for replying but I tried those ways earlier and had even installed a fresh copy of windows along with formatting the drive, but it still the same as before. Only the friendlist can't get online and the games I previously installed says can't connect to EA services. I'm facing this problem anywhere else except for origin and EA desktop.

@CHOCO-theKBG Hmm in that case; is there a chance that you can test this on a different PC and on a different connection?

Glad to hear it @CHOCO-theKBG, did you open some ports on the router or enable upnp?

Or was it just the case of rebooting/factory reset the router?
