Re: EA App will not open

@barnacleboi32
Please try uninstalling the EA app using the free version of Revo Uninstaller. Then, download again with fresh installer file.

Alternatively, please see if you need to update your console/pc.

Alternatively, please check how much RAM and storage you have left.

If none of this solves your issue, please visit https://help.ea.com/en/help-contact-us/?product=ea-play&topic=login-ea-account&category=manage-my-account&subcategory=cant-log-in for more help.
If you still need help, please visit https://help.ea.com/en/help-chat/?product=ea-play&topicName=login-ea-account to reach out to the EA staff.

Hope this helps xx

  • @1105Cats I have used Revo Uninstaller each time, sorry I should've mentioned. Also, no updates are available to my PC. I have 500GB of storage available and usually around 16-18GB of RAM available.

@barnacleboi32 That's no problem, I just always suggest it for when people need to uninstall/re-install etc 🙂

Ok, I don't believe there is any other way to solve this without going very in-depth. I will still give you some simpler ideas down below but I would recommend clicking the links I attached in the previous post.

Please can you attach a screenshot of what it looks like when you try to launch the EA app. That would really help me understand what is going on.

Furthermore, check that the Electronic Arts folder is there. If it's not, visit https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-and-Mod-CC-Issues/Don-t-have-electronic-arts-folder/td-p/6786458
If it is, ensure that all vital files are still there. Also check your recycle bin for any Electronic Arts related files or docs. They could've been accidentally deleted if you were scrolling through or downloading/deleting mods and cc etc.

    Hope this helps xx

  • @1105Cats Thanks! And yeah, I've been skimming through other similar issues and have a ticket submitted so we'll see if they can help.

Also, I would attach a screenshot, but really nothing happens when I start the app. The EA App does not open. In Background Processes in Task Manager EALaunchHelper runs for about a quarter of a second, then stops and EA appears in background process for about a quarter of a second, then stops as well.

The folder is there with I believe everything that gets installed as well.

Thanks for the help, hopefully they respond with something soon 🙂

    Ok, no problem 🙂
Hopefully they can give you answers, it could take anywhere from around 2 hours - 3 days for them to respond, so be patient!

If you are certain that you would not like more help from me and that you want to wait for more support, then that's fine and I'll wrap it up here. However, please let me know your preference. If you choose to receive more info from me then there isn't much more I can say that isn't quite high-brow. I can always try though 🙂

    Good Luck!

  • @1105Cats Anything I haven't already listed I would be willing to hear! I've messed around for a while but am willing to try anything 🙂

Ok, I will try and help you as much as possible during this stressful and frustrating time 🙂
I am going to list a few things that could have caused it and will either link an answer to resolve it or tell you myself :

    1. Outdated Graphics Driver - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/update-drivers-manually-in-windows-ec62f46c-ff14-c91d-eead-d7126dc1f7b6
    2. Corrupt System Files - https://recoverit.wondershare.net/ad/repairit.html?msclkid=12738f660230199bb422eaebc4edad3b&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Repairit_SS_em_Pid(6480)_UK%2FCA%2FAU_EN&utm_term=how%20to%20fix%20corrupt%20files&utm_content=File%20Repair you will need to download
    3. Is your PC hardware failing? ( that's down to you to fix )
    4. Do you have two accounts open? - close Origin if it's open as it doesn't allow you to run the EA app simultaneously

A link that could take you to another helpful info page = https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/EA-Desktop-App-won-t-Launch/td-p/9620542

  • @1105Cats Looks like no luck updating graphics driver, and no corrupt files. Hardware should be fine, and Origin was never installed x.x

Ok, I have been reviewing your case for quite a while, desperately skimming and scraping all across the internet for answers as well as applying my own knowledge to the situation. I have since found some more possible causes and fixes.

Possible Causes ( and their fixes ) :

    1. A hacker has gotten hold of your EA account details ( if another device is accessing your account, the original device which would be your pc won't be able to run it ) - report a hacker and/or download Avast Security Browser ( it does cost money so it's entirely optional )
    2. Mods and CC causing the app to crash - delete all mods and cc AND permanently delete from recycle bin

    Possible Fixes:

    1. Unplug / disconnect your pc
    2. Clear the Windows cache

    Hope this helps xx

  • @1105Cats Looks like no dice still. Thanks for all your effort though! it's definitely a headscratcher on my end as well
