sims 2 legacy + packs not launching fully

I was able to download The Sims 2 legacy without issue. When trying to open it my computer will adjust to the lower resolution screen size and I can see the Sims 2 icon in my start bar as if it’s open, but no game window appears. I left it for around 10 minutes to see if it would eventually launch but it never did. I can’t click on anything in this state (i.e. task manager will open but I can’t close anything). Not sure what’s preventing it from opening fully?

[Alienware R15 from 2021 running windows 11]
