Summarize your bug Purchased The Sims 3 Showtime, Ambitions and Island Paradise but missing download buttons to install them in-app. Only Island Paradise worked.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Look at my purchased expansion packs and the ones that cannot download are Ambitions and Showtime.
What happens when the bug occurs? Cannot download the expansion packs.
What do you expect to see? Download button.
I am experiencing a similar issue as a miles-long thread from almost a year ago.
Is there anyone else who had similar problems with the sims 3 expansion packs and was able to fix it?
I tried all the troubleshooting methods ea had in their imagination to no avail. Trying to download my missing expansions through the legacy origin program on my computer gives the inescapable EA app installation pop-up.
I bought The Sims 3 Showtime, The Sims 3 Ambitions + The Sims 3 Island Paradise while I was in Japan. I assumed the issue was by region since I have now returned to UK however the problem still stands with Showtime and Ambitions because Island Paradise was able to download at home.
I feel I have tried everything and a refund from ea despite my efforts seems impossible.
Yep! I am having the same issue. There is no option to download the expansion pack. When you go to manage add-on's it just says "In Game Content" while the other expansion packs say "Installed".
@projektpooh I had the exact same issue and could not install a newly purchased expansion pack. Like you, my new expansion pack was showing as "in game content" and the old expansion packs were showing as "installed". I found a solution that worked for me - follow the instructions outlined in this video (and the pinned comment): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og3POZYSNvw. Once I logged into Origin, it automatically downloaded my new expansion pack. When I opened the EA app and Sims 3 launcher, my new expansion pack showed as installed. Hope this helps!
They have been refusing to fix the issue for months now. It's not that they can't it's that they won't. The issue seems to only occur on older games. Them not fixing it is corporate saying do not provide support for older games, so people focus more on buying newer games. The way to see any action is for -no one- -anywhere- to buy any EA games through the EA App/Origin and eventually they will have to fix it just to save revenue. They know the chances of this happening though are slim to none. Do not use the EA App. Do not use Origin. Buy and download your games elsewhere.
