I have not played the Sims in a couple of years and now have a newer Mac, I was able to download the EA app without issue, as well as log in to my account and view my game and expansion pack. However, when I attempt to download the game, it pauses the download after a few seconds and says "Download Error." I have already cleared the cache, and no change. Has anybody experienced something like this before? I am wondering if it is because I haven't accessed the game in a few years, if it is because I am now living in a different country with my only wifi access being a hotspot, or if it is because I changed laptops. I am very technologically illiterate, if somebody has a potential resolution for me that would be much appreciated!

When I try to download the new update it gets to 30% and then says "download error", it gives me the same error message when I cancel the update and attempt to repair the game. It makes it to 30% before saying "download error". I've cleared my cache more than once and restarted the app and my entire mac and nothing is working. Anyone have the same issue and/or know how to fix it? Thx

hello all as of the beginning of November ive been having a problem with downloading an update for the sims 4 I want to start by saying I'm on the m1 MacBook Pro if that means anything lol so the update would start and then stop after about 10 seconds giving me the error message below ive tried updating my computer software clearing the ea app cache repairing the game [this had the same effect as just trying to download the update] at the request of ea support I deleted and redownloaded the ea app twice which did nothing then also at their request I deleted the game and now I'm stuck not being able to download it as it does the exact same thing as the update and repairing the game neither of which will download ea also marked our last chat as having no fix for my issue and ended our chat so here I am on my last straw lol can anyone help?

I keep getting the "There's a problem with your download" error when I try to download the new Jan 14th update. I restarted my computer, cleared my EA app cache multiple times, took my mods out of my mods folder, reinstalled the EA app, and nothing has worked. I came here to see if anyone had found any solutions already but all I see is a lot of people running into the same issues years ago on different devices. I am on a Macbook Pro 2023 with the M3 Pro chip.

Having exactly the same error with my 2020 M1 mac mini. It doesn't even get past the preparing stage. Reinstalled EA and sims etc nothing worked. Did you ever find a solution?

I'm gonna be honest I totally forgot about this. I think I just repaired my game but I can also check my youtube to see if I found anything else.

I've tried downloading the base game with different connections and VPNs and every time it fails with "There's a problem with your download, something went wrong during your download. Give us a few minutes and try again."
I've also tried clearing the cache already and yet nothing works. Could anyone please help me?

I haven't played since the May 2025 update. I went to update my game and it gets maybe 2% into the update and pauses the update because there was an "error" (without specifying what the error is). I tried restarting the EA app, nothing changed. I tried restarting my PC, nothing changed. I tried repairing the EA app, nothing changed. When I tried to repair the game itself, it did the same thing it was doing when I tried to update it where it would get 2% into the repair and pause for an "error." I am on good Wi-Fi and my PC is up-to-date.
Any insight would be appreciated!! Screenshots attached in case they can help.
EDIT: Apparently something was up with our cache preventing any updates (even software updates) from happening, so it's been fixed and was not an issue on the EA or Sims side!
