I'm still having this issue. I'm unable to update or play The Sims 4 because of this. I have 12 GB of free disk space and I can't free up more space. Also, it shouldn't be my responsibility to free up more space if the update doesn't actually need that much space. This is clearly a bug in the EA App and should be fixed by EA. How come I can't use the product that I've payed for?!
Freeing up the required amount of disk space should allow you to proceed, thanks.

I am also currently having this issue and I don't think this is a helpful solution. Why does an update require 19 gigs of storage though? That's a huge amount. Is the latest update really this big?
- 3 years ago@EA_Barry That's not helpful at all? The game already takes up 19GB of space in my computer and now I need ANOTHER 19GB of storage to re-install in after EA changes their interface? I can't make that much space without uninstalling the sims completely and losing all of my save data. And I cannot back it up, because I cannot open the game until I have the space free. You see the issue???

But why does the update require such a ridiculous amount of space? It's just as much as the game itself, which I can no longer play because I can't update the new platform without deleting all of my saves. What is part of this update that takes up so much space?

That's ridiculous. The game itself takes 19gb of space, an update should be much less. We'll lose all our game data if we need to uninstall and redownload sims.

If it were the Origin app, this wouldn't have been an issue. The Origin app only required the same amount of space for the update and that was it. Why is it that we are always having problems with EA and the app?

Yea this also just happened to me. It also wouldn't make sense if it was a legit update that was happening at different times for all sims users. I literally was just playing the Sims 10 minutes ago, I quit the game to fix my mods, and the next thing you know EA is asking for space LARGER than the game itself for an absurd update. Like, usually Sims updates take 5-10 minutes and only take up a couple 100 MB, not 20 GB. It's like I'm reinstalling the game all over again.
- 3 years ago@D3vilish_S0ul Ok guys I repaired the game and now it's letting me play, hopefully this works for the rest of you!

EA-Barry As others have said this is not a helpful response - we should nt need to clear the space the size of the game for an update - for many this may not even be possible
This was not an issue in Origin so EA sort it out so that users can play Sims again - quite frankly this is not good enough

I only have the sims 4 on my pc, there is physically nothing else i can delete in order for this 20G update unless i delete the game itself!

I’m having the same issue! Even after “repairing” the game. This is beyond ridiculous!

Can you please just fix it I’m really really really having a hard time and I literally just got a hard drive so I don’t understand
- 3 years ago
I have well over 19 GB of space, but a 19 GB that is more than the base game itself is unrealistic. I don't understand how to fix.
