Sims 4 won't launch since downloading EA App

I just downloaded the EA app after being forced to switch over from Origin. I downloaded the Sims 4 and the expansions I own, but whenever I try and launch the game it crashes immediately.

I have tried so far:

-uninstalling and redownloading the Sims 4

-launching it from the Sims 4 application and not EA

-repairing the Sims 4

-Force quitting EA and trying again

-googling the issue and trying the suggested fixes, none of which worked

-restarting my macbook

-resetting my wifi (i don't even know why, frustration i guess?)

  • I recently was forced to switch to the EA app from Origin, but a game I own and paid for, Sims Medieval, is not compatible with/supported for Mac on the EA app. I reached out to EA customer service and was told my only option was to play it on a new system, as in go out and buy a PC/different computer.

They won't issue a refund since it was purchased outside the window (as in, when I could actually play it on Origin).

It seems ridiculous to me that I was made to switch to a platform that doesn't even properly support the games I paid to be able to play, and now that I can't play them due to EA, EA won't refund me for them.

Is there anything I can do here? Customer support was utterly useless, and just told me to buy a new system so I could play the game...
