Well it's been a day so far. And it's clearly a known issue. More then anything I don't understand why this issue wasn't patched in the first place-- probably because EA doesn't care enough about maintaining compatibility. The fact that they forcefully prevent you from using Origin now, tells me that EA is probably trying to data mine or something. Otherwise they should have no reason to prevent you from using Origin since EA app is so broken. They wouldn't care in the first place otherwise.
I think there's some pretty big ethical problems in the leadership of EA, and I'm assuming that as such, tech support for older games is very limited to none-- which would be fine if they didn't superimpose platform changes that break older games. I'll honestly be surprised if I get a response in the first week.
No offense, not mad at you, or your teams, just extremely frustrated that I can no longer play the game I payed for because of corporate's little branding side project. And it's not like this is exclusive to older games either, I've seen that there's been issues with EA desktop in newer games like 2042.
Hell, the game I'm trying to play in the first place still has bugs that were never addressed- I can't even use my flightstick or vJoy without having unconfigurable deadzone of 50%, flight throttle doesn't have ANY support, you have to pump it to go forward. They won't support it, but they also won't make it open source or allow contributions to the source (seemingly). With the PRBF3/Reality Mod project, they don't even let them have access to the dev tools or see source code.
This is a mess, a mess that will never come to any sort of Justice. I've barely used EA products compared to other publishers, and yet EA has brought me more frustration then anyone else.
